I major in journalism and am about to graduate and have realized that I don't want to be a reporter at all. I'm not even sure what I want to do now and feel like I've wasted time. I like anything and everything international or that has to do with languages and cultures, not hounding people for interviews or coming up with ideas for fluff feature stories. Would I be able to get into something I'm interested in with the journalism degree? I'm looking at going to grad school for international relations, but most programs want people with political or social science backgrounds or are way too expensive. My advisors at the university are urging me to get my master's in media studies. I'm thinking about it, but I don't want to waste time and money on a masters degree that people don't respect and won't get me a job unless I want to become an academic. What could I do with that? Any ideas of what I could do? How can I put myself in a position to get a job or masters degree that I at least don't hate and will be useful? (Sorry for the lengthy post.
